Information about the first-aid kit

The Germans are still world champions in travel. But many forget to re-equip their first-aid kit. Result: Most Germans are poorly prepared for illness on holiday. Before you start a trip, you should check your first-aid kit.

Clarify in time before departure:

  • Are your existing medicines expired?
  • Do you already have enough medicines you need to take on a regular basis?
  • Have you inquired whether you need to take special measures for the destination? (eg Malaria prevention or certain vaccinations?) Ask your pharmacist!
  • Do you have sunscreen in sufficient quantity? It is calculated for an adult 20 ml of suntan a day, for a child 10 ml. A sunburn can ruin your beautiful holidays!

Even if medicines are often cheaper in the country of destination, you better get them before you travel home. Before you take unknown medicines that may have dangers and side effects for your health, consult your pharmacy in good time and freshen up your first aid kit.

Here is a list of medicines that should definitely be on the trip:

  • Painkiller
  • Means against insect bites, jellyfish, itching and sunburn
  • Sunscreens
  • An agent for wound disinfection
  • Eye drops for conjunctivitis
  • Tablets for diarrhea
  • To connect: plaster, gauze bandage, elastic bandage, a steep disposable syringe with needle
  • Thermometer, tweezers, scissors

Recommended medications for on the go:

  • Remedy for motion sickness and nausea
  • Vitamins and minerals tablets
  • Remedy for stomach problems
  • Ointment against sports injuries

Please also note the following notes:

  • Store the first-aid kit as coolly as possible and avoid direct sunlight
  • Do not bathe in tropical waters
  • No unprotected private contacts
  • Chronically ill patients must take their tablets with them (if necessary, observe the time difference when taking them!).
